Ippu-do(一風堂)
Active Years
- 1979 – 1984
Musical style
- The band used play kinda post-punk sounds with tiny weird pop taste such as Devo and Tsuchiya Masami(Vo, Gt) sings hoarsely, but the band became like Japan, a British New Wave band and Tsuchiya also changed his singing style androgyny like David Sylvian.
- They often insert oriental melody and passages in their songs.
- Some says that this band is the firs Visual-kei band due to Tsuchiya’s looks.
Influenced by/for
- Japan(David Sylvian, Richard Barbieri, Steve Jansen)
- Bill Nelson(ex Be-Bop Delux)
- David Bowie
- Yellow Magic Orchestra
- R&B and Soul Music such as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett
Short topics about members, songs, etc…
- “Ippudo”, the one of the world biggest ramen chains which is opened in New York, London and other places is named after this band. This band was named after a grocery shop that existed in Shibuya, Tokyo.
